Business
Apollo Food Holdings Berhad is a Malaysia-based investment holding company principally engaged in the manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of compound chocolate confectionery products and bakery goods. Headquartered in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia, the company traces its operational roots to 1974 and operates primarily through its wholly owned subsidiaries, Apollo Food Industries (M) Sdn. Bhd. and Hap Huat Food Industries (M) Sdn. Bhd. Apollo manufactures and markets a diverse portfolio of packaged food products under its flagship Apollo brand across two primary business segments: manufacturing and trading. The company's core product offerings include chocolate confectionery products, such as chocolate-coated wafer bars, milk and dark compound chocolate wafers, chocolate-filled ball wafers, and cream-filled chocolate biscuits; layer cakes and swiss rolls, available in multiple flavors including chocolate, pandan, vanilla, strawberry, blueberry, and banana; and assorted specialty confectionery items, including stick wafers, chocolate candies, and extruded snack foods. Apollo serves mass-market retail consumers, wholesalers, supermarkets, hypermarkets, and convenience store chains across domestic and international markets. The company distributes its products across Malaysia and exports to more than 30 countries and regions worldwide, including Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, India, and destinations throughout the Middle East. In recent corporate developments, Apollo underwent a major change in ownership and leadership in early 2024 when Scoop Capital Sdn. Bhd., the master franchisee of Baskin-Robbins in Malaysia and Singapore, acquired a 51.07 percent controlling equity interest from the founding Liang family through Key Selective Sdn. Bhd. for approximately 238 million Malaysian ringgit. Following a mandatory general offer, Scoop Capital consolidated majority control while preserving Apollo's listing on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia. Under the new controlling shareholder, the company has implemented executive management and board reorganizations aimed at modernizing production capabilities, optimizing supply chain efficiencies, and capitalizing on strategic retail and distribution synergies to drive regional market expansion.
