Business
Focus Point Holdings Berhad is a Malaysia-based investment holding company primarily engaged in optical retailing, medical eye care services, hearing healthcare solutions, and food and beverage (F&B) operations. Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia, the company operates the largest optical retail chain in Malaysia and manages a diversified portfolio of consumer healthcare and lifestyle brands across domestic and regional markets. The company operates through three principal business segments: Optical Retailing, Food and Beverages, and Others. The Optical Retailing segment engages in the retail and wholesale distribution of vision care products, including prescription eyeglasses, designer and private-label spectacle frames, ophthalmic lenses, sunglasses, contact lenses, and lens care accessories; comprehensive professional optometric services, including visual acuity testing, corneal topography, ocular disease screenings, pediatric optometry, and diabetic retinopathy assessments; specialized medical eye care and laser refractive surgery, including LASIK, ReLEx SMILE, and cataract treatments conducted through its subsidiary ExcelView Laser Eye Centre Sdn. Bhd.; and hearing healthcare services, encompassing audiometric testing, hearing aid dispensing, and accessory distribution via Focus Point Hearing Solutions. The company operates its vision retail network under multiple brand concepts tailored to diverse consumer demographics, including Focus Point, Focus Point Signature, Focus Point Concept Store, Focus Point Lifestyle, Focus Point SightSavers, Focus Point Outlet, Whoosh Eyewear, Opulence, Eyefont, and Optometris Anggun. The Food and Beverages segment operates premium Japanese-style bakeries and cafes under the Komugi brand and specialty frozen yogurt outlets under the HAP&PI brand; produces and retails artisanal breads, pastries, cakes, confections, and beverages; and conducts industrial manufacturing and business-to-business (B2B) supply of frozen dough, par-baked goods, and customized bakery products from its central kitchen facility to corporate partners, convenience store chains, supermarkets, and food service operators. The Others segment provides investment holding, corporate eye care administration serving institutional clients, and franchise management services for optical and F&B concepts across Malaysia, Brunei, and other regional territories. In recent developments, Focus Point Holdings Berhad expanded its nationwide retail footprint, surpassing the milestone of 200 operational optical stores with strategic store additions in key commercial centers and underpenetrated regions in East Malaysia. The company has also scaled its F&B division by expanding its central kitchen manufacturing output to support growing B2B frozen bakery supply partnerships with prominent commercial food service networks, alongside continuing the retail rollout of its HAP&PI frozen yogurt brand. In addition, the company was selected for inclusion in the Bursa Malaysia Quality 50 (BMQ) and BMQ-Shariah indices following its constituent status in the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia index, and it broadened its institutional investor base with the entry of Lembaga Tabung Haji as a substantial shareholder.
