Business
Niobay Metals Inc. (TSX-V: NBY; OTCQB: NBYCF) is a Canadian mineral exploration company focused on the acquisition, exploration, and development of properties containing critical and strategic minerals, primarily niobium and tantalum; it holds a 100% interest in the James Bay Niobium Project covering 8,833 hectares in northeastern Ontario's James Bay Lowlands; a 72.5% interest in the Crevier Niobium and Tantalum Project spanning 4,645 hectares north of Girardville in Quebec's Lac Saint-Jean region; and an option to acquire an 80% interest in the Foothills Titanium-Phosphate Project covering approximately 285 square kilometers near Quebec's former St-Urbain mine site. The company explores for niobium used in high-strength low-alloy steels for applications in electric vehicles, infrastructure, and energy sectors to reduce carbon emissions; tantalum oxide for high-tech electronics; titanium and phosphate minerals; and conducts research into rare earth elements and lithium potential on adjacent claims such as the QTZ exploration project. Founded in 1954 and headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Niobay operates exclusively in Canada with an emphasis on environmentally sustainable practices, indigenous engagement, and low-carbon mining in partnership with local First Nations including the Moose Cree and Pekuakamiulnuatsh. Recent developments include the commencement of first niobium and tantalum oxide product deliveries from a Quebec pilot plant in June 2025 supported by a provincial grant, enabling customer trials for battery and high-tech applications; an upsized brokered LIFE offering and concurrent private placement announced December 3, 2025, targeting up to C$7.5 million in gross proceeds; confirmation of an exploration permit for the James Bay project in October 2025 and start of a 2025 drill campaign at Crevier in June 2025 with extensions of mineralization and rare earth intersections; closure of a C$2.2 million charity flow-through placement in July 2025; and closure of the Foothills option agreement in February 2024 with high titanium drill results in 2025.
