Business
Hydro One Limited functions as Ontario’s principal electricity transmission and distribution provider through its wholly-owned subsidiaries. The company strategically organizes its operations across three primary segments: Transmission, Distribution, and Other. It maintains and manages an extensive high-voltage transmission grid spanning approximately 30,000 circuit kilometers, alongside a vast low-voltage primary distribution network reaching roughly 126,000 circuit kilometers throughout the province. This comprehensive infrastructure enables Hydro One to deliver power to around 1.5 million residential, small business, commercial, and industrial customers, covering a significant portion of Ontario’s geographic area. Beyond its core electricity services, the enterprise also offers telecommunications support, and a range of information and communications technology solutions. Founded in 2015, the firm is headquartered in Toronto, Canada, and continues to invest substantially in modernizing and expanding its network, including recent projects like the Welland Thorold Power Line, which incorporates a unique First Nation 50-50 Equity Partnership Model. Hydro One’s business model is largely rate-regulated, ensuring stable cash flows and predictable growth as it commits to an $11.8 billion capital plan for 2023-2027 to enhance grid reliability and support Ontario's energy future.
