Q2 FY2026 · Earnings Call TranscriptAugust 28, 2026

Krister Karjalainen

Hi, I'm Krister Karjalainen, CEO at Qbrick. Let me summarize the half-year briefly: revenue turned upward with 19% growth in Q2 versus Q1.

The gross margin strengthened to 80% for the first six months. Net sales came in at 12 million kronor, lower than expected, and we launched two new AI products in the market: Qbrick Pulse and Dirion.

All in all, a small turnaround with rising revenue, a stronger margin, and new scalable revenue streams. Two forces sit behind the turnaround.

First, revenue: net sales rose 19% in the second quarter versus Q1. For the half-year, they came in at 12 million kronor against 15 million a year earlier.

The decline is contained and explained. It comes from less production projects in our studio subsidiary, Ritualen.

We are now addressing this with a much clearer sales process and adjusted offering. Second, the margin: the gross margin strengthened to 79% in the second quarter and 80% for the half-year, up from 77% a year ago.

As we shift toward more scalable revenue, the quality of the entire business improves. Profitability during the first half-year was unsatisfactory.

EBITDA came in at -2 million kronor and the net result at -7 million, weighed down by our cost base and by higher financing costs in the second quarter. We have acted quickly and decisively.

In July, we completed a group-wide efficiency program that lowers the cost base, and we are introducing a simpler sales structure for our studio business. The first effects show already in the third quarter, and full effect reaches the cost base from the first quarter of 2027.

This lays a clear path to improve profitability while we protect what creates value today and in the future: our platform and our products. The core of the group stands strong: our SaaS-based video platform.

It serves banks, public institutions, and regulated and enterprise companies across Nordics. It is profitable, predictable, and the engine that funds our growth.

The Danish business is growing, driven by customers in healthcare and finance, and the Finnish business remains profitable. During the quarter, we also welcomed new customers as, for example, TUKS in Finland, Statnett in Norway, and Trafikverket in Sweden, further strengthening our position in the Nordic public sector.

Our partnership with Bonnier News is a strategic partnership, and it now contributes positively to revenue. Our objective is to grow this business this year and beyond.

It is a scalable relationship beginning to show its full commercial potential, and we are truly proud of the trust and support the Bonnier News organization places in Qbrick. This period was also marked by deliberate strategic progress.

During the year, we have launched two new AI products: Qbrick Pulse and Dirion. These scalable software products with good margins and new revenue streams that will drive the group's growth.

This is a milestone for Qbrick. We are accelerating product innovation with AI-driven development.

We are becoming faster, more effective, and driving higher margins. This applies not only to the new products, but also to our video platform, which is now AI-agent-ready.

Let me say a few words about each. Qbrick Pulse is our AI-native solution for learning and competence, built with AI from the ground up.

It builds on our foundation of video-based learning, which we have delivered to clients over many years. Our mission with Pulse is to democratize learning so that every company can train its organization.

The global market for corporate learning is massive and growing fast, and we see strong demand from our existing clients. Pulse already has two pilot customers, and we are aiming to grow our learning business this year and, as a scalable software product, scale it beyond Nordics.

With Dirion, we address one of the most important questions in the shift toward autonomous AI: the need for control, compliance, and traceability. Dirion governs autonomous AI at the point where agents act, and we bring the right foundation.

Qbrick has been trusted and approved by governments and enterprise clients for many years. We understand governance and security.

The market need is large and growing. Across Europe, regulated enterprises and public sector organizations must stay in control as AI becomes autonomous, and the EU AI Act is a powerful tailwind with transparency obligations already in force and high-risk requirements binding from December 2027.

This positions us not just to adapt to the shift toward AI, but to offer the market the products that shift demands. We already have early proof.

A pre-study with a regulated client gave clear indications of real product need, which gives us confidence in our [unclear]. Dirion represents a major opportunity to build incremental business value with a scalable AI product.

All in all, the first half was the period in which the foundation for profitable growth was laid. The SaaS-based core business stood stable, revenue turned upward, and the gross margin strengthened.

A cost savings program that lowers the cost base going forward was decided, and our AI product portfolio was established in the market. What remains is to convert this into profitability, and that is precisely the work now in focus.

Qbrick is entering an exciting period driven by our new AI products and by the execution of the partnership with Bonnier News within Dagens industri Investor Relations. I am confident in our ability to convert our strategic positioning into profitable growth, and grateful for our shareholders' continued support and our Qbrick team.
