Business
Sunnova Energy International Inc. provides residential solar energy services and energy storage solutions throughout the United States and its territories; core offerings include customized solar panel installations, battery storage systems, rooftop solar removal and reinstallation services, comprehensive repair and maintenance programs, on-site power optimization, equipment upgrades, system diagnostics, electricity supply under power purchase agreements and leases, and non-solar financing and loan programs. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, the company serves over 441,000 customers with a fleet of residential solar energy systems generating approximately 2,892 megawatts as of December 31, 2024, primarily targeting homeowners through a national network of dealers and installers in states across the U.S. as well as Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands. In 2025, Sunnova filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in June, completed a court-supervised sale of substantially all assets including its residential solar servicing, operations and management platform, and solar generation and storage portfolio to Solaris Assets LLC (operating through SunStrong Management) in September for a credit bid plus $25 million in cash and cure costs, sold its New Homes business unit assets to Lennar Homes for approximately $16 million, secured $90 million in debtor-in-possession financing along with additional funding agreements, and transitioned customer servicing responsibilities to SunStrong Management to ensure continuity of billing, monitoring, and support for existing systems.
