Business
News Corporation (Nasdaq: NWS, NWSA; ASX: NWS, NWSLV) operates as a global diversified media and information services company, creating and distributing authoritative content and other products and services across news media, book publishing, digital real estate services, and professional information businesses. The company maintains five primary operating segments: Digital Real Estate Services, including online property portals such as realtor.com through Move, Inc. and REA Group platforms in Australia and Asia; Dow Jones, encompassing premium financial news via The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, MarketWatch, Dow Jones Newswires, and specialized data analytics including Oil Price Information Service and Chemical Markets Analytics; Book Publishing through HarperCollins, offering consumer books in fiction, non-fiction, children's, religious titles via Zondervan, and academic texts across more than 120 imprints in 16 languages; News Media, featuring newspapers and digital sites like The Times, The Sunday Times, The Sun, New York Post, The Australian, news.com.au, and Sky News Australia; and Other operations involving subscription video services in Australia via Foxtel, which include streaming platforms Kayo Sports and Binge for sports and entertainment content. Founded in 2013 as a spin-off from the original News Corporation and headquartered at 1211 Avenue of the Americas in New York City, the company conducts principal operations in the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom, with content and services distributed worldwide to consumers, businesses, professionals, advertisers, and real estate users. In December 2024, News Corporation announced a definitive agreement to sell Foxtel Group to DAZN Group for an enterprise value of A$3.4 billion, including repayment of A$578 million in shareholder loans and retention of a approximately 6% minority equity interest in DAZN plus a board seat, enabling greater focus on core growth pillars of Dow Jones, Digital Real Estate Services, and Book Publishing while classifying Foxtel as discontinued operations in fiscal 2025 reporting; this transaction, expected to close in the second half of fiscal 2025 subject to regulatory approvals, values Foxtel at more than 7x its fiscal 2024 EBITDA and follows prior strategic moves such as Dow Jones' 2022 acquisitions of OPIS for $1.15 billion and Base Chemicals for $295 million, multi-year content licensing deals with Google and Facebook in 2021, and the 2014 acquisition of Move, Inc.
