Business
Orora Limited designs, manufactures, and supplies packaging products and services primarily for the beverage industry, with a focus on glass bottles; aluminum cans, tabs, and ends; closures and caps; and related premium packaging solutions. The company operates through its Global Beverage division, which serves global markets including wine, beer, spirits, and soft drinks producers via sustainable manufacturing, design, decoration, and supply chain services. Orora conducts operations across Australasia, North America, Europe, and the UAE from 17 production sites, employing approximately 4,500 people. Founded in 1949 and headquartered in Hawthorn, Victoria, Australia, the company emerged as an independent entity in 2013 following a demerger from Amcor. In recent strategic developments, Orora completed the sale of its North American Orora Packaging Solutions (OPS) business to Veritiv for $1.68 billion in December 2024, enabling a sharpened focus on premium beverage packaging; sold its Closures business; integrated the December 2023 acquisition of France-based Saverglass for about $1.4 billion to bolster premium glass offerings; and allocated divestment proceeds toward expanding its aluminum cans division in Rocklea, Queensland, debt reduction, and shareholder returns amid challenging market conditions.
