Business
Performance Food Group Company (PFGC) is a leading North American foodservice distributor that markets and delivers an extensive range of food and food-related products to over 300,000 customer locations, including independent and chain restaurants, schools, healthcare facilities, vending and office coffee service distributors, big box retailers, theaters, and convenience stores. The company operates through three primary divisions—Performance Foodservice, which supplies fresh produce, seafood, cheese and dairy, bakery and desserts, beverages, appetizers, pantry staples, cuisines including pizza and Italian, Latin and Hispanic, non-foods such as janitorial supplies and equipment, and customized services like cheese processing and meat cuttings; Vistar, focused on candy, snacks, hot and cold beverages, and vending solutions across all 50 U.S. states; and Convenience, providing high-quality food options for convenience store operators. Founded in 1885 and headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, Performance Food Group maintains over 150 distribution centers across the United States and parts of Canada, employing more than 30,000 associates to support its broadline distribution model. In October 2024, the company completed the $2.1 billion acquisition of Cheney Brothers, Inc., a Florida-based broadline distributor generating approximately $3.2 billion in annual revenue with five facilities in Florida and North Carolina, enhancing its Southeast U.S. presence, adding distribution capacity, and targeting $50 million in annual run-rate cost synergies by the third full fiscal year post-closing; this follows prior acquisitions including Core-Mark in 2021 and Reinhart Foodservice in 2019.
