Business
Alternergy Holdings Corporation is a Philippines-based renewable energy holding company and independent power producer engaged in the development, financing, construction, and operation of clean power generation facilities. Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Makati City, Philippines, the company operates across four primary business segments: Wind Power, Solar Power, Hydro Power, and Retail Electricity Supply. Its product and service portfolio comprises the generation and wholesale supply of electricity through utility-scale onshore and offshore wind farms, including the Pililla, Tanay, Alabat, Sembrano, and Tablas Strait wind power projects; the production and distribution of hydroelectric power through run-of-river mini-hydro plants, such as the Dupinga, Kiangan, Lamut-Asipulo, and Ibulao facilities; the design, deployment, and operation of ground-mounted solar farms, commercial rooftop solar arrays under the CitySun brand, and floating solar installations, including the Kirahon and Solana solar facilities; the provision of integrated hybrid renewable energy systems equipped with battery energy storage systems (BESS), exemplified by the Palau Solar and BESS hybrid project in the Western Pacific; and the direct marketing and commercial supply of green electricity to contestable commercial and industrial customers through its licensed retail electricity supplier subsidiary, ALTER Power RES, Inc. The company structures its operational assets through specialized technology-focused intermediate sub-holding entities, including Alternergy Wind Holdings Corporation, Alternergy Solar Holdings Corporation, and Alternergy Mini Hydro Holdings Corporation. Alternergy Holdings Corporation markets its electricity output under long-term bilateral power supply agreements with private distribution utilities, electric cooperatives, and commercial consumers, as well as through capacity contracts awarded under the Philippine Department of Energy's Green Energy Auction Program and merchant sales on the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market. In recent corporate developments, the company has executed several strategic financing and expansion initiatives to support its target of reaching 500 megawatts of operational capacity and its longer-term goal of one gigawatt by 2030. In September 2026, the company entered the Philippine debt capital market with its maiden issuance of 2.0 billion Philippine pesos in fixed-rate green corporate notes rated PRS Aa minus by Philippine Rating Services Corporation to finance pre-development pipelines and general corporate purposes. In July 2026, the company finalized a 2.3 billion Philippine peso strategic investment agreement with A Brown Company, Inc., through its energy unit ABC Energy Inc., which acquired a 40 percent equity interest in the Tanay and Alabat wind project operating companies while Alternergy maintained majority ownership and operational control. In late 2025, the company expanded its regional geographic footprint into the Visayas Grid by acquiring a 95 percent equity stake in the Alegria Cebu Wind Power Project through Alternergy Wind Holdings Corporation. Additionally, the company secured a combined 10.0 billion Philippine pesos in debt facilities, including an 8.0 billion Philippine peso project loan from Bank of the Philippine Islands and Security Bank Corporation for the 112-megawatt Tanay wind farm and a 2.0 billion Philippine peso green corporate facility from BDO Unibank, and became the first publicly listed corporation on the Philippine Stock Exchange to receive the Green Equity Label from the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Philippines.
