Business
NexGen Energy Corp. is an independent renewable energy developer and power generation holding company based in the Philippines. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Makati City, Philippines, the company operates as a subsidiary of Pure Energy Holdings Corporation (PEHC). NexGen Energy Corp. focuses on the origination, development, financing, construction, and operation of clean power generation infrastructure across the Philippine power sector. The company's core products and services include the generation and wholesale supply of utility-scale solar photovoltaic electricity; the development and operation of ground-mounted solar power plants; the engineering, development, and deployment of floating solar installations, such as utility-scale projects on Lake Caliraya; the exploration, site assessment, and development of onshore and offshore wind power projects; the implementation of agrivoltaic dual-use solar systems designed for rural electrification and agricultural integration; and the commercial sale of clean energy through bilateral power purchase agreements and transactions on the Philippine Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). NexGen Energy Corp. manages its asset portfolio through three specialized subsidiaries: Solar Powered Agri-rural Communities Corp. (SPARC), which owns and operates three commercial ground-mounted solar plants totaling 13.859 MWp in Zambales, Bataan, and Bulacan; 5Hour Peak Energy Corp., which oversees utility-scale ground-mounted and floating solar development assets; and Airstream Renewables Corp., which holds wind energy service contracts representing a development pipeline of over 1,700 MW across Luzon and the Visayas. In recent corporate developments, the company underwent a corporate reorganization and rebranded from Just Solar Corp. to NexGen Energy Corp. in December 2023. In July 2024, NexGen Energy Corp. completed its initial public offering (IPO) on the Small, Medium, and Emerging (SME) Board of the Philippine Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol XG, raising gross proceeds of approximately PHP 504 million to fund its solar and wind expansion initiatives. Additionally, the company has secured Green Lane endorsements from the Philippine Board of Investments and regulatory authorizations from the Department of Energy to fast-track permitting for its wind and floating solar pipelines, while actively increasing its equity stake in SPARC to consolidate its operating revenue base.
