- Al-Noor Sugar Mills Limited is a Pakistan-based diversified agro-industrial company primarily engaged in the manufacturing and sale of refined sugar, industrial alcohol, medium-density fiberboard (MDF), and co-generated power. Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Karachi, Pakistan, the company operates as a constituent of the Al-Noor Group, maintaining its primary integrated production complex in Shahpur Jahania, District Naushahro Feroze, Sindh. Al-Noor Sugar Mills Limited operates through four main business segments: Sugar, Distillery, Medium Density Fiberboard, and Power Generation. The Sugar segment manufactures white refined cane sugar for retail consumers and industrial food, beverage, and pharmaceutical processors; raw sugar; and by-products including sugarcane molasses, bagasse, and filter cake/press mud. The Distillery segment utilizes captive and procured molasses to produce various grades of ethanol, including extra neutral alcohol (ENA), rectified spirit, anhydrous ethanol, and industrial-grade alcohol for domestic chemical industries and export markets across Asia, Europe, and Africa. The Medium Density Fiberboard segment manufactures engineered wood and panel products marketed under the Lasani Wood and Al-Noor Lasani brand names; plain MDF boards; melamine-faced laminated boards; UV-coated panels; high-gloss decorative sheets; and veneer boards serving the residential and commercial furniture, architectural joinery, and construction sectors. The Power Generation segment operates biomass-fired co-generation power facilities utilizing captive sugarcane bagasse to generate electricity and process steam for self-consumption, while exporting surplus power to the national utility grid. In recent developments, Al-Noor Sugar Mills Limited has implemented ongoing balancing, modernization, and replacement (BMR) initiatives across its crushing and processing units to improve sucrose extraction yields, enhance boiler thermal efficiencies, and lower carbon emissions. The company has expanded its engineered wood portfolio with the addition of upgraded short-cycle melamine lamination press lines and expanded surface texture designs to address increasing regional demand for interior decorative panels. Furthermore, the company has completed operational and technological upgrades across its distillery operations to expand high-purity extra neutral alcohol production capacity for international export markets, while optimizing its bagasse-based power dispatch to the national grid to strengthen operating margins amid fluctuating raw material supply and energy costs.
