Business
Pak Elektron Limited (PEL) is a Pakistan-based engineering and manufacturing company primarily engaged in the design, manufacture, and marketing of electrical power equipment and consumer household appliances. Founded in 1956 and headquartered in Lahore, Pakistan, the company operates as an industrial enterprise within the Saigol Group (Kohinoor Maple Leaf Group). Pak Elektron Limited operates through two principal business segments: the Appliances Division and the Power Division. The Appliances Division manufactures and distributes a comprehensive range of domestic consumer appliances under the PEL brand name, including direct cool and inverter refrigerators; deep freezers; residential and commercial split inverter air conditioners; top-load and twin-tub automatic and semi-automatic washing machines; microwave ovens; water dispensers; and LED televisions. The Power Division specializes in heavy electrical engineering and equipment manufacturing for energy generation, transmission, and distribution networks, offering products and services that include high-voltage power transformers; distribution transformers; single-phase, three-phase, and smart electronic energy meters; medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) switchgear panels; vacuum circuit breakers; package substations; instrument transformers; and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracting services for turnkey grid station projects. The company serves public electric utilities, including the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), the National Transmission & Despatch Company (NTDC), regional distribution companies (DISCOs), and K-Electric, alongside private commercial infrastructure, industrial clients, and retail consumer markets across Pakistan, with selective export operations in South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. In recent strategic developments, Pak Elektron Limited has advanced corporate restructuring schemes to separate and optimize its power and appliance manufacturing businesses into focused operating entities, while expanding its technology footprint into Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) smart meter deployments, renewable solar power integration equipment, and energy-efficient inverter product lines.
