Business
Sanghar Sugar Mills Limited is a Pakistan-based agro-industrial company primarily engaged in the manufacturing and sale of refined sugar, along with the processing of allied by-products and bagasse-based power generation. Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Karachi, Pakistan, the company operates a manufacturing facility located in Deh Kehore, Sanghar District, Sindh, with a crushing capacity of 8,500 metric tons of cane per day (TCD). Sanghar Sugar Mills operates within the food products and agribusiness sector, serving domestic industrial consumers, commercial food and beverage manufacturers, distilleries, and retail distribution channels across Pakistan, as well as international export markets during authorized export periods. The company offers a systematic portfolio of products and services, which includes: Refined White Sugar, produced through sugarcane crushing and refining processes for household, commercial food processing, confectionery, and beverage applications; Molasses, a key by-product supplied to distilleries and industrial clients for the production of ethanol, industrial alcohol, yeast, and livestock feed; Bagasse, the residual sugarcane fiber utilized primarily as an eco-friendly biofuel for captive boilers and sold for paper and board manufacturing; and Co-generation Electric Power, generated through bagasse-fired thermal power equipment and transmission infrastructure to fulfill captive energy requirements and supply surplus renewable electricity to the national grid. In recent operational developments, Sanghar Sugar Mills Limited has undertaken modernization and efficiency enhancement programs across its crushing and steam generation infrastructure, including investments in shredder turbines and power transmission equipment to optimize energy recovery and maximize surplus electricity evacuation to the power grid. Additionally, the company has actively participated in government-allocated sugar export quotas to manage inventory levels and capitalize on international market demand, while strengthening its grower support and sugarcane procurement programs in the Sindh region to mitigate climate-induced crop yield volatility and secure uninterrupted feedstock supply.
