Portman Ridge Finance Corporation (NASDAQ: PTMN) operates as a non-diversified closed-end business development company under the Investment Company Act of 1940, specializing in originating, structuring, and investing in secured term loans, mezzanine debt, bonds, notes, and selective equity co-investments primarily in privately held middle-market companies with EBITDA between $5 million and $50 million. The company targets sectors including healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, media and telecommunications, real estate, education, automotive, agriculture, aerospace and defense, packaging, electronics, finance, consumer products, business services, utilities, insurance, and food and beverage; its investment vehicles encompass senior secured term loans of $2 million to $20 million maturing in five to seven years, second lien term loans of $5 million to $15 million maturing in six to eight years, senior unsecured loans of $5 million to $23 million maturing in six to eight years, mezzanine loans of $5 million to $15 million maturing in seven to ten years, and equity investments of $1 million to $5 million, supplemented by loans to public companies, high-yield bonds, and distressed debt securities. Headquartered at 650 Madison Avenue in New York, New York, the company traces its roots to 2019 when it adopted its current name following a transaction with BC Partners, and maintains external management through Sierra Crest Investment Management, an affiliate of BC Partners L.P. In July 2025, Portman Ridge completed its merger with Logan Ridge Finance Corporation, creating a combined entity with over $600 million in assets, enhanced borrowing capacity via refinanced credit facilities with KeyBank and JPMorgan Chase, and greater scale for middle-market lending; the company also announced plans for a corporate rebranding to BCP Investment Corporation with a new ticker BCIC, a transition to monthly base distributions beginning in 2026 alongside quarterly supplements approximating 50% of excess net investment income, and a share repurchase program by management and affiliates for up to 20% of common shares if trading below 80% of net asset value.
