RedFlow Limited (ASX:RFX), an Australian company founded in 2005 and headquartered in Brisbane, develops, manufactures and sells zinc-bromine flow batteries for stationary energy storage; its core products include the ZBM2 and ZBM3 10kWh modular battery systems, ZCell for residential applications, scalable energy pods such as quadpods for commercial and industrial use, and battery management systems (BMS) for telecommunications, grid-scale, off-grid microgrids and long-duration energy storage. The batteries offer high cycle life, 100% depth of discharge, tolerance to high temperatures, remote management and no thermal runaway risk, targeting sectors including residential, commercial & industrial (C&I), telecommunications infrastructure and utilities across Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the US, Europe and emerging markets in Africa and Asia. Operations span international deployments via energy system integrators, with recent focus on non-lithium solutions for medium- to long-duration storage in C&I, off-grid telco sites and utility-scale projects. In August 2024, Redflow entered voluntary administration after failing to secure sufficient equity funding for its strategic scale-up plan, including a new factory for the X10 battery; administrators from Deloitte ceased trading on 18 October 2024, unable to find a going-concern buyer, and now seek separate sales of assets and intellectual property despite prior partnerships with Black & Veatch and Ameresco, a 4MWh project award, Queensland government factory support and A$3.12m funding secured earlier in FY25.
