Business
Seiko Epson Corporation and its affiliated entities engage in the development, manufacturing, sales, and comprehensive services for a broad spectrum of offerings across its core business areas. The company organizes its operations into distinct segments: Printing Solutions, Visual Communications, and Manufacturing-Related & Wearables. The Printing Solutions division delivers a wide array of products, including inkjet devices for home and business environments, such as its popular EcoTank refillable ink tank printers, alongside impact dot matrix printers, page printers, advanced color image scanners, and innovative dry process office papermaking systems. This segment also encompasses specialized commercial and industrial inkjet printers, precision inkjet printheads, point-of-sale systems, label printers, and associated consumables. A significant recent development in this area was the December 2024 acquisition of Fiery, LLC, a key provider of digital front-end servers and workflow solutions, intended to further digitalize the printing industry. Within Visual Communications, the company provides leading 3LCD projectors for diverse applications spanning business, education, home entertainment, and large-scale events. This segment also features its advanced Moverio smart glasses, which leverage augmented reality for enterprise uses like industrial training, remote assistance, maintenance, logistics, and specialized applications in healthcare and drone piloting. The Manufacturing-Related & Wearables segment focuses on high-precision products such as wristwatches and their intricate movements. It is also a significant force in industrial automation, offering factory automation solutions, advanced industrial robots—including SCARA and 6-axis models—where it holds a leading global market share in SCARA robots and is recognized among the top industrial robotics manufacturers. Additionally, this segment encompasses compact injection molders, various production systems, crystal units, crystal oscillators, quartz sensors for consumer, automotive, and industrial applications, CMOS LSIs and other integrated circuits, as well as metal powders and specialized surface finishing. The company also markets personal computers. Founded in 1942 and headquartered in Suwa, Japan, Seiko Epson Corporation operates globally, with a significant presence in regions including Japan, the United States, China, the Philippines, and Indonesia. The company's long-standing philosophy centers on efficient, compact, and precise innovation, driving its commitment to creating societal value and fostering sustainability. Demonstrating this commitment, Epson achieved 100% renewable electricity usage across all its worldwide operations in 2023, aligning with its Environmental Vision 2050 to become carbon negative and free of non-renewable underground resources by mid-century.
