Star Group, L.P. (NYSE:SGU) provides home heating oil, propane, and related energy products and services to approximately 404,600 full-service residential and commercial customers and 61,700 delivery-only customers across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic U.S. regions, including Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, West Virginia; the company offers gasoline and diesel fuel to about 26,800 customers, installs, maintains, and repairs heating and air conditioning equipment, and provides ancillary services such as plumbing, home security, and appliance repair through brands including Petro Home Services, Griffith Energy, Meenan, Region Energy, and others under its operating subsidiary Petro Holdings, Inc. Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, Star Group operates as the nation's largest retail distributor of home heating oil by sales volume and conducts business through a portfolio of acquired regional providers. In January 2025, the company completed the acquisition of a home energy distributor within its existing footprint for approximately $68 million before working capital adjustments, following a definitive agreement announced in December 2024; during fiscal 2024, it executed five acquisitions adding 20,000 customers while reporting increased adjusted EBITDA and net income despite warmer weather impacting volumes.
