Business
Six Flags Entertainment Corporation owns and operates the largest portfolio of regional amusement parks, water parks and resorts in North America. The company maintains 41 properties across the United States, Canada and Mexico, featuring world-class roller coasters including steel, wooden and launch varieties such as Goliath, X2, The Joker and Top Thrill 2; family rides encompassing Ferris wheels, carousels, spinning teacups and kid-friendly attractions in areas like Looney Tunes Seaport and DC Super Friends; water rides and parks under the Hurricane Harbor brand with log flumes, wave pools and lazy rivers; live entertainment including musical performances, stunt shows, character meet-and-greets featuring DC Comics and Warner Bros. franchises; seasonal events such as Fright Fest with haunted houses and Holiday in the Park with light displays; group sales for corporate events, school field trips and picnics; and food and beverage options alongside season passes, admissions and merchandise. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, with finance operations in Sandusky, Ohio, Six Flags traces its origins to 1959 via its flagship Six Flags Over Texas park. In July 2024, the company completed a merger of equals with Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, adopting the Six Flags name and NYSE ticker FUN while retaining Cedar Fair's operational strengths and Six Flags' ride innovation; later in 2025, activist investor JANA Partners along with NFL star Travis Kelce and others acquired a significant stake, prompting ongoing shareholder engagement on marketing, technology modernization, leadership assessment and potential acquisitions, alongside the appointment of new CEO John Reilly amid revenue challenges.
