Business
Southstone Minerals Limited is a Canadian junior diamond mining and exploration company that acquires, explores, evaluates, develops and mines mineral properties, with its principal operating asset being the majority-owned Oena Diamond Mine in South Africa. Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Victoria, British Columbia, the company focuses on the recovery, sale and marketing of rough diamonds, including large special stones and mid-sized diamonds, through a lean operating structure and its interest in African Star Minerals (Pty) Ltd. Southstone also maintains interests in mineral projects in Botswana and has previously described a strategic diversification effort into uranium through Afrium Energy Pte. Ltd. Under its current business model, the company generates revenue from diamond production and sales, with operations centered on the Sandberg Section of Oena and periodic tender sales. Recent corporate developments include record quarterly diamond sales in fiscal 2026, a Q3 2026 sales update, the appointment of Derek Sobel as chief financial officer and Kevin Ma as a director and audit committee chair in May 2026, and the mutual termination in July 2026 of the Afrium Energy term sheet after earlier extensions to allow additional time for Botswana prospecting licence renewals.
