Business
Sanofi S.A. (SNYNF) is a French multinational biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops, manufactures, and markets prescription medicines, vaccines, and over-the-counter healthcare products worldwide. Founded in 1973 and headquartered at 46-48 Avenue de la Grande Armée in Paris's 17th arrondissement, the company operates in over 100 countries across Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East, with key research and production hubs including Cambridge, Massachusetts; Bridgewater, New Jersey; and Lyon, France. Sanofi focuses on five core therapeutic areas—immunology and inflammation, neurology, oncology, rare diseases, and vaccines—delivering a broad portfolio that includes Dupixent (dupilumab) for atopic dermatitis, asthma, and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (marketed with Regeneron); Lantus and Toujeo (insulin glargine) for diabetes; Aubagio (teriflunomide) and tolebrutinib for multiple sclerosis; Sarclisa (isatumab) for multiple myeloma; Cerezyme (imiglucerase) and Nexviazyme (avalglucosidase alfa) for rare diseases such as Gaucher and Pompe disease; and leading vaccines like Fluzone for influenza, Menactra for meningococcal disease, and Dengvaxia for dengue via its Sanofi Pasteur subsidiary, the world's largest vaccine producer. Its immunology offerings also encompass treatments for rheumatoid arthritis (Kevzara with Regeneron), hemophilia (Eloctate, Alprolix), and thrombosis (Lovenox); cardiovascular products like Multaq (dronedarone) and Praluent (alirocumab with Regeneron); oncology agents including Jevtana (cabazitaxel) and Taxotere (docetaxel); and consumer health brands such as Allegra (fexofenadine) and Nasacort (triamcinolone). Sanofi maintains a robust R&D pipeline with 93 clinical-stage projects across its focus areas, including 26 in Phase 3 or under regulatory review, such as amlitelimab for atopic dermatitis and celiac disease, frexalimab for multiple sclerosis and type 1 diabetes, itepekimab for COPD, and next-generation vaccines like SP0256 for RSV in older adults. Recent developments include the completion of its acquisition of Vicebio Ltd. on December 4, 2025, adding a novel RSV/hMPV combination vaccine candidate leveraging Molecular Clamp technology to bolster its respiratory vaccine portfolio; an additional $625 million commitment to Sanofi Ventures in September 2025, expanding assets under management to over $1.4 billion for biotech and digital health investments following 2024 exits valued at $3.25 billion; the acquisition of Vigil Neuroscience for $470 million in May 2025 to advance neurology pipeline assets; a February 2025 share buyback of 2.3% from L'Oréal as part of its ongoing program; and a July 2025 extension of its tender offer for Blueprint Medicines to strengthen oncology capabilities. Through subsidiaries like Sanofi Genzyme (rare diseases and specialty care) and ongoing collaborations such as with Regeneron, Sanofi drives innovation in AI-powered biopharma solutions for immunology, oncology, and beyond.
