Business
SPI Energy Co., Ltd. is a global renewable energy company primarily engaged in the development, manufacturing, and sale of photovoltaic (PV) solar products and electric vehicle (EV) solutions. The company provides a comprehensive range of solar energy equipment including solar panels, inverters, steel-framed solar modules, forklifts, and charging stations. It also offers engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services to independent power developers, commercial and industrial companies, and utility-scale solar projects. SPI Energy further develops, owns, and operates solar power plants that generate and sell electricity to power companies and other off-takers. Its solutions extend across residential, commercial, government, and utility segments, serving markets in the United States, China, Japan, Europe, Australia, Italy, Greece, and the United Kingdom. Founded in 2006 and headquartered in McClellan Park, California, SPI Energy integrates its offerings through e-commerce platforms targeted at both retail and B2B customers. Recently, SPI Energy has focused on expanding its solar project portfolio by reintegrating 26.57 megawatts of photovoltaic parks in Greece following a settlement with SINSIN, which is expected to more than double its existing 17.51 megawatts of operating solar capacity and generate significant annual revenue. The company also continues to boost production capabilities through expanded manufacturing lines, investing in research and development to enhance product innovation. SPI Energy has faced operational compliance challenges with Nasdaq regarding timely financial filings, but it is working towards resolving these issues while pursuing growth through strategic acquisitions, expanded market presence in key regions, and new product launches in solar and energy storage technologies. Its business strategy emphasizes leveraging government renewable energy incentives, integrating end-to-end solar and EV solutions, and maintaining a sustainable supply chain globally.
