Now, let's pass our time to Dr. Simon Leung to hold our presentation.
Uh
Simon Leung
thank you. Good morning, good afternoon, good night, uh whatever.
Um so, thank you for joining us uh today. Uh let me kind of uh, well, I'm not going to go through the agenda uh because it's actually, you guys probably very familiar with the agenda.
What I'll do is actually I'll hit the highlights uh of our half-year results and then uh I'll hand it over to Wood, and then uh and then we'll also go into the business uh deep dive into it. Uh the good news is actually on the gaming side, uh we uh we continue to deliver uh growth uh half-over-half, which is actually it's a very good news for us.
It shows uh the resilience of our flagship uh uh IP uh which is actually very good news. Um the second big one is actually something we started uh much earlier, but I think we are uh uh kind of uh wrapping it up as a product.
Which is the AI workforce OS, which I will talk about a little bit later, that continue to support uh the cost reduction and in turn support the growth of our gaming business and also the education business going forward. Again, uh Lin Chen and I will talk about it, how it supports our business going forward.
Uh last but not least in gaming is actually AI continue to help not only on the cost side, but also on the uh on the growth side. Uh for Mynd, the education uh uh business in the US and uh and Europe is still facing a lot of headwinds, uh because of uh, uh domestic issues in the US, the two wars in uh in in both Ukraine and Iran, it's actually uh, facing a headwind.
We successfully narrow our loss. Uh I'll go into a little bit details uh later on.
Uh another uh uh milestone that we hit is actually to deliver deliver uh our latest product, which is AP10 for the premium market and also the AP Le to address the the value market. The AP10 premium is actually quite critical uh because to support that the third point I want to mention.
The good news on SaaS is that actually we are we have grown our business year-over-year. Uh this is going to be our future uh when hardware uh gets commoditized.
Uh SaaS revenue is very important. The AP10 is actually designed to support uh all the SaaS uh business going forward, including deploying uh AI on our panel, which I will talk a little bit more about it.
With that, I'm going to turn it over to Wood to talk about the results. Oh,
Wood Lau
thank you, Simon. Uh good morning, everyone.
I will walk you through the financial highlight for the first half of the 2026. For the revenue, the the revenue the total revenue of the group is 2.8 billion for the first half of 2026, which is down 12 uh.7% uh year-over-year.
For segmentation, gaming and applications services revenue was 1.6 billion, which is down about 9% uh YoY. Uh despite the YoY decline, we have seen a, significant signal of stabilizing and recovery of of with a half-over-half growth by 3% for this half over the second half of the last year.
For Mynd.ai revenue was about 500 and 5 million, which due to the, the delayed effect of the industrywide demand recovery. For the constant exchange rate, the decrease was uh a little bit narrowed to about 17%.
Gross profit is about 1.5 billion uh, which is for being line with the revenue trend. The cost side, we continue to execute the AI strategy and the overall opex decreased about 18% to about 1.1 billion.
For the three major opex, and selling and marketing expenses decreased about 15% YoY to about 218 3 million. For the administrative expense decreased about 12% to about 418 million, reflecting our continuous effort to deploy AI applications to enhance our internal strategy and internal efficiency.
R&D expenses decreased about 24% to about 409 million, which has been driven by the operational deployment of our AI and core metrics, which support structural transformation and efficiency gains. As a result, our profit attributable to owner of the company is was was about 56 million, it's increased 30 20% this year.
I would like to draw your attention on the two major items here. First, we made an Eden impairment provision for the first half about a RMB115 million, which reflected, the the Eden price hit the multi-year lows at around uh US dollar 100 1,600 in the as as of our H1 end.
Uh which the the Eden price already recovered a bit uh as of now. Secondly, we the one-off severance payment was uh decreased about 42% to about 80 8 million uh RMB, which indicate our operational structure is gradually reaching a new normal.
Exclude these two factors, adjusted profit attributable to our owner of the company was about 204 54 million, which is down about 8% year-on-year, which is uh relatively stable given the market market situation. Finally, our board has declared a interim dividend of about HK$0.5 per share, which unchanged from last year, reflecting our commitment to our shareholder return plan announced in March this year.
Turn to the next pages to our segmental financial highlight. Starting with our gaming and applications services, and the revenue was about 1.6 billion, is down 8 8.8% uh year-on-year.
Gross profit is about 1.3 billion, which is down about 12% this year, which with a gross uh profit margin is is over 80 80%. Our core segmental profit was about 461 million, which still a little bit lower compared with the same period last year.
Uh our, uh H-over-H, the core segmental profit has already improved. Segmental operating expenses was reduced across key three uh categories.
For our R&D, uh decreased about 23%. For the selling expenses, decreased about 9%.
The administrative expenses, about 5%. Overall, the operating expenses for the gaming segment is about down about 40% uh as of the cost saving impact our AI strategy continue to be in.
Importantly, our core segmental profit improved half-over-half, demonstrating our business stabilizations and the operational efficiency. Moving to the Mynd.ai, revenue is about 505 million, which is down about 21%, which mainly driven by a lower customer spending as, the delayed tiring of us demand recovery.
Our gross profit was about a 114 million, which down only 40%, uh which have gross margin improved uh because of our cost savings chance. Our core segmental loss is narrow to about uh 126 million, which is down from the 195 million in the last year.
The improvement was mainly supported by our continued cost reductions. R&D expenses is down about 27%, selling and marketing expenses is down about 25%, administrative expenses have been down about 56%.
Overall, the Mynd's operating operating expenses is down about 9 29% YoY while as we continue to optimize our cost structure while waiting for a broader industry demand recovery. To conclude, although the top-line growth was uh under pressure in the first half, we make a solid progress in our cost control ability on our uh under the AI strategy.
These actions help us to, to improve our operational efficiencies and maintain our stable shareholder returns. This is the first half highlight, I turn to Lin Chen for talking about the gaming business.
Lin Chen
Simon Leung
Thank you, uh Lin Chen. Uh let me kind of go through Mynd uh uh very quickly, and then I'll go into the one of our strategic uh moves, which is the AI workforce uh OS uh going forward.
Uh for Mynd, I think Wood talked about it uh and said we managed to increase our uh gross margin and also to decrease our opex in a very hard time. By the way, in terms of optimization of costs, what we actually we have continued, and we will continue, you will see the results in the second half of 2026.
If we look at the the performance is that we really narrow the loss in Q2, we are on the path to a EBITDA breakeven in second half uh of the year, which is a combination of cost reductions and optimization. Also the uh, uh taking advantage of the uh, buying season in Q3 uh in the later part Q2 and Q3.
Uh which we are encouraged. Uh so, yeah.
Next. This is actually a very uh critical to our uh, uh path forward, uh like I said earlier.
The AP10 uh launch is is very critical uh uh for the deployment of uh AI services. Uh uh and for the LE is actually is our product that we can address the lower-end uh market, which we call it the value market uh, which mostly is the market outside of uh of the US.
That said, with uh budget uh pressure in the US, uh we also expect to see uh the LE will pick up uh momentum. Uh that said, we also continue to look at whether we can uh uh provide uh even a better uh price performance uh product um in the lineup, which you will hear from us uh very shortly.
Next. Um again, very important.
This is actually related to our AI workforce OS. Uh we have over a million classrooms around the world, which is a great uh user base to deploy AI services.
We continue to work on this, uh we call a million classroom uh as our sockets. Uh if we can uh deploy uh AI services into all of these sockets, uh we will create a very significant uh SaaS service uh going forward, which we are very excited about.
Next. Let me turn it into AI workforce uh platform, which I talked about earlier.
Lin Chen also talked about it. Uh I'm not going to go into uh great big detail because this uh these slides is really designed more like a product introduction.
Uh since this is the earnings call, I will hit the high level. Uh so, uh if you remember, we talked about a lot about using AI, embracing AI.
This is a result of doing the uh embracing of AI. What we often realize, what we're using in AI to support our uh core gaming business and also our education uh business can be a great, great platform for us to support other businesses and other sectors.
We decided to productize um uh all the uh AI features that we developed. Also with the introduction of like Agentic AI, we feel this is actually is a great opportunity.
This is a result of that. Next.
If you look at this, is that we basically create um a foundation with uh all the features uh in there, and then we can create uh workflow using Agentic AI to help businesses uh to grow. We're going to focus on different verticals uh rather than uh approaching it from a horizontal uh standpoint.
You can kind of think about it as really we are like a a employment agency. Whatever employee you want you want to employ, you can come in and you can employ the AI employees uh in to support your businesses uh, which we are very very excited uh about.
Next. From a go-to-market standpoint, we see many different ways to uh to to do with it.
Uh well, first of all, first and foremost, uh our businesses both uh gaming and education will embrace this 110% if you will. Then, of course, we'll go after other businesses, which I have a slide uh uh uh on the next page to to show you.
Um but the key on that one is actually is our differentiations, which is our our moat. Our moat is actually not really about the AI technology itself because we're not in the frontier model.
We are we're going to be using whatever model that fit our purposes. Um so, uh we're going to be uh using all of them if you will.
Along the way, we're going to gain a lot of uh domain expertise and and knowledge, which is our differentiation. That's why we call the data flywheel.
That will provide our competitive edge. Again, go back to to what I talk about earlier.
A lot of people think about doing AI is that you working on the large language model. That's not our case.
Now, but that said, we're going to be doing something which I will explain later on, which you call Sovereign uh Large Language Model. The key is actually it's along the way, we're going to gain uh uh industry knowledge that work with our AI, that will be our that's its advantage.
Next one. Um so, this is the use cases that we talk about.
Leveraging all the AI capability on our platform. Number one, we can go uh B2C that we can uh, we can do our games, which Lin Chen uh talked a lot about.
Uh we can do learning uh whether with through through comic books or interactive uh courses and and all that. We can continue to do that.
Uh but equally important, if not more important, is actually we can do uh support B2B and also B2G. Uh we continue to use this platform to support our movement uh in Thailand, uh but not limited to Thailand.
Uh I can't talk about it right now, but it's actually we're talking to a lot of uh countries in Southeast Asia to use the same uh concept that we have in Thailand to support their growth. Uh a lot of uh nationwide AI education product that we can uh support, uh one being uh Cameroon that we talk about.
Uh that's the one that we will uh do what we call Sovereign Large Language Model. Again, we're not going to through the a large language model capability ourselves.
We're going to leverage the open source or open weight uh model around the world uh mainly. The the few from China and then in in the US probably will be uh uh will be uh uh Gemma.
Uh in in the in China will be either Qwen, DeepSeek, uh or Kimi uh to support um uh our education large language model. The idea is actually is to localize and verticalize uh the education model in a school and can support it.
Because in some of the African countries, they do not have access to Internet, and they do not have access to the large language model uh that is around the world. With us doing what we call Sovereign Large Language Model, which basically can run on a $5,000 uh uh US dollar uh uh GPU PC that you can support the entire school.
We see that as a great uh uh basis for us to uh help us in our education uh businesses. Now, I mean that approach is not only limited to uh developing countries.
Uh we're also piloting that in Hong Kong as we speak uh in uh, about four schools right now across different sectors. Um so that's uh, when I talk about that, I also cover the uh smart education uh platform, Sovereign LLM, LLM, sorry.
Uh to to um in a nutshell, uh this is actually what we do. Uh we started out internally to embrace AI, but that whole effort has morphed into our future strategy, which is leveraging the AI workforce platform to support our uh growth in gaming and education, but also can help us to extend into other uh businesses.
Uh next. With that, let me uh comment on the outlook very quickly.
I think we talked about it. Lin Chen talked about it.
In uh gaming, uh we continue uh our growth. We continue to embrace AI.
Uh and then uh I'm looking forward to uh the AI native game uh kicking off in the second half of the year. Uh for Mynd, I also talk about it.
Uh we continue with cost optimization. Actually on that one, we have deployed a lot of AI services, especially in customer support and all the back-end uh services.
Uh to deploy to deploy AI services in the US, a little bit more tricky uh because of the data privacy issues, uh but the actually same thing applies to uh uh to Europe. We have ways to get around it, we continue to be optimistic.
Uh we are seeing some signs of uh market recovery in North America. Budget has been um released, so that's why we are uh cautiously optimistic about the second half.
Uh again, I talk ad nauseam about AI and also seven uh sovereign LLM, so that's going to be our our our future. In a nutshell, uh we are uh cautiously optimistic about the second half.
Uh we believe it will be uh uh at least EBITDA breakeven uh in the second half of 2026. Uh with that, I want to close this presentation.
Uh thank you for your patience. Uh now we're going to open it up for questions, and hopefully answers.

So, let's welcome our first question.
Lin Chen.
Simon。So our next question is regarding our education business.
How does the company view the recovery outlook for our overseas education technology market in the second half of the year? Judging from our order on hand, do we see any customer demand rebound?
Uh
Simon Leung
I thought I talked about it. Uh um actually we're cautiously optimistic, uh so we are seeing uh some movement in the US uh is actually, so that's why we are cost uh cautiously optimistic.
Uh I have to admit is actually it's quite slow in the Middle East uh for obvious reasons. I would not expect to see the Middle East recovering in the second half of the year.
Um Europe is actually highly depending on uh a couple of countries, uh one being Germany. Again, no, we are cautiously optimistic.
Uh I think 2027 will be the year of uh recovery for us.
Operator
Thank you, Simon. Due to the time constraint, we are welcoming our last question right now.

Lin Chen

This will officially conclude our presentation today. Once again, thank you for joining us.
