Business
Rusta AB (publ) is a Sweden-based discount retailer that offers a wide range of functional and trendy home and leisure products at low prices through physical stores and online channels. The company provides small furniture, lighting, rugs and other textiles; seasonal items including Christmas decorations, garden and holiday products; consumables and home decoration articles; leisure products such as home exercise equipment, travel gear, smart accessories, pet food, snacks and accessories; do-it-yourself (DIY) items comprising paint, flooring, wallpaper, tools and equipment; as well as beauty products, cleaning articles, disposal solutions and health-related snacks. Rusta operates in three main segments--Sweden, Norway and other markets including Finland and Germany--with approximately 231 stores across these regions and online sales primarily in Sweden and Finland; it was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Upplands Väsby, Sweden. In recent developments, Rusta pursues its largest expansion to date, opening six new stores across Sweden and Finland in autumn 2025 including locations in Lindesberg, Äänekoski, Forssa, Umeå, Vänersborg and Vallentuna, while planning its first city-center store in Helsinki for spring 2026; the company raised its three-year store opening forecast from 40-60 to 50-80 new units in December 2024 amid a record number of approved contracts. Previously, Rusta acquired the Finnish discount chain Hong Kong in 2018 to strengthen its presence in Finland. The retailer reported net sales growth of 6.0% excluding currency effects in Q1 2025/26, with like-for-like growth of 1.2% and continued focus on core Nordic markets.
