Founded in 1957 and headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, Superior operates nine manufacturing facilities in North America, primarily in the United States and Mexico, and Europe; it organizes operations into two reporting segments—North America and Europe—with OEM wheel sales comprising approximately 92% of total revenue. In July 2025, Superior entered into definitive agreements to be acquired by a group of its existing term loan investors, including Oaktree Capital Management, through conversion of term loans into equity, following delisting from the New York Stock Exchange in June 2025 for failing to meet listing standards; shareholders approved the transaction in September 2025, with closing targeted on or before September 30, 2025, transitioning the company to private ownership to support long-term stability and growth amid rising RFQ levels from customers seeking supply chain de-risking.
