Business
Severn Bancorp, Inc. (SVBI) operates as a savings and loan holding company that provides retail and commercial banking services through its subsidiaries, including Severn Savings Bank, FSB; Louis Hyatt, Inc.; SBI Mortgage Company; and Mid-Maryland Title Company; offering deposit products such as checking accounts, savings accounts, certificates of deposit, money market accounts and individual retirement accounts; as well as loan products encompassing one-to-four family residential mortgages, commercial real estate loans, construction loans, commercial loans, business loans and consumer loans including home equity lines of credit and lot loans. Founded in 1946 and headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland, the company primarily serves customers in Anne Arundel County and surrounding areas through seven full-service branches located in Annapolis, Crofton, Edgewater, Glen Burnie, Lothian/Wayson's Corner and Severna Park. In a major strategic change, Severn Bancorp was acquired by Shore Bancshares, Inc. in October 2021 for approximately $169.8 million in a stock-and-cash transaction, resulting in the merger of Severn Savings Bank into Shore United Bank and the delisting of SVBI shares from Nasdaq, with former Severn branches rebranded under Shore United Bank by early 2022.
