Founded in 1999 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and headquartered in Austin, Texas, the company previously divested its managed service provider business as N-able in 2021 and, in April 2025, completed its acquisition by Turn/River Capital for $4.4 billion, delisting from the New York Stock Exchange and transitioning to private ownership to accelerate innovation in operational resilience, AI-powered solutions, and subscription-based licensing models that phase out perpetual licenses by August 2025. Recent developments include the launch of SolarWinds Platform versions 2025.1 and 2025.2 with modern dashboard improvements, intelligent maps enhancements, WinRM polling support, and redesigned self-hosted observability features; next-generation integrations of observability, incident response, service management, and AI automation; and post-acquisition shifts such as multi-year subscription enforcement, potential renewal price increases, and expanded focus on hybrid IT resilience amid prior cybersecurity challenges.
