In November 2025, 1&1 AG announced an agreement to acquire 1&1 Versatel GmbH from its parent company, United Internet AG, securing direct access to Versatel's nationwide fiber-optic network. The company markets its offerings through various brands, including 1&1, yourfone, smartmobil.de, winSIM, PremiumSIM, simply, DeutschlandSIM, and sim.de, catering to both value and price-sensitive consumer segments. As of mid-2025, 1&1 served approximately 16.33 million customer contracts, comprising 12.44 million mobile and 3.89 million broadband connections. Founded in 1988, 1&1 AG maintains its headquarters in Montabaur, Germany, and operates as a subsidiary of United Internet AG.
