Recent strategic developments include a July 2025 reorganization merging Retail and Business Banking and Nedbank Wealth into Personal and Private Banking and Business and Commercial Banking clusters to enhance client focus, growth, and productivity, while shifting asset management to Corporate and Investment Banking; an August 2025 agreement to acquire fintech iKhokha for R1.65 billion to bolster SME digital payments, cash advances, and business tools; an August 2025 agreement to sell its 21.2% stake in Ecobank Transnational Incorporated for US$100 million to refocus on owned operations in SADC and East Africa; and a commitment of R12 billion in excess capital announced in late 2024 for continental expansion targeting 20-40% non-South African profits by 2029 through sectors like renewables, infrastructure, mining, women-led SMEs, and wealth management in Kenya.
