Business
Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC), headquartered in Dallas, Texas, and founded in 1967, operates as a diversified multinational healthcare services company that owns and manages acute care and specialty hospitals; ambulatory surgery centers and surgical hospitals through its majority-owned subsidiary United Surgical Partners International (USPI), the largest ambulatory platform in the United States; revenue cycle management and value-based care services via Conifer Health Solutions; and a global business center in Manila, Philippines, providing shared corporate and administrative support across 13 workstreams including accounting, human resources, and procurement. The company serves urban and suburban communities primarily in nine U.S. states through 49 acute care and specialty hospitals, over 450 outpatient facilities including diagnostic imaging centers, micro-hospitals, and off-campus emergency departments, a network of employed physicians, and partnerships with more than 50 not-for-profit health systems; Conifer supports 660 clients managing $25 billion in net patient revenue annually for hospitals, health systems, physician groups, health plans, and self-insured organizations. Recent developments include the sale of majority stakes in five Birmingham-area hospitals to Orlando Health for $910 million in early 2024, generating approximately $790 million in post-tax proceeds and a 10-year contract for Conifer services; an agreement in 2025 for Novant Health to acquire three South Carolina hospitals with expanded Conifer revenue cycle management; addition of nearly 70 ambulatory surgery centers in 2024 through acquisitions and de novo builds; plans to invest at least $250 million annually in ambulatory mergers and acquisitions with a sharpened focus on orthopedic-driven centers; and expansion of surgical robotics to nearly 150 programs nationwide, alongside strong third-quarter 2025 results prompting raised full-year guidance.
