Recent major changes include the acquisition of Imperva in late 2023, significantly enhancing Thales' cybersecurity business to become one of the top five global cybersecurity leaders. In 2024, Thales acquired Cobham Aerospace Communications to expand its avionics system capabilities. The Group also entered into a strategic joint venture with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace to strengthen its defense communications portfolio and signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus and Leonardo to combine space activities. Additionally, Thales completed the sale of its Ground Transportation Systems business to Hitachi Rail in 2024, refocusing on core technologies related to defense and aerospace. The company continues to invest heavily in research and development, particularly in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, cybersecurity, and cloud technologies, with a commitment to address challenges in sovereignty, security, and sustainability.
