Terumo Corporation (TSE: 4543; OTC: TRUMY), a global leader in medical technology founded in 1921 and headquartered at 2-44-1 Hatagaya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan, manufactures and markets a broad portfolio of medical devices and equipment serving healthcare providers, blood centers, pharmaceutical companies, and patients worldwide across more than 160 countries and regions. The company operates through three primary business units: the Cardiac and Vascular Company, which supplies interventional devices for catheter-based treatments of heart, brain, and blood vessel diseases; oxygenators and heart-lung machines for cardiac surgery; and surgical grafts and stent grafts for vascular repair; the Medical Care Solutions Company (Terumo Medical Care Solutions), which provides transfusion systems, diabetes care products including blood glucose monitoring systems, peritoneal dialysis solutions, infusion therapy devices, and hospital care essentials such as syringes and needles; and the Blood and Cell Technologies Company (Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies), which offers devices and supplies for blood collection, processing, filtering, storage, apheresis, and centrifugal separation to support transfusions, cancer therapies, blood disorders treatment, and cell and gene therapy manufacturing. Terumo maintains an extensive global network of manufacturing facilities, R&D centers, and sales offices, with key operations in Japan, the United States, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and emerging markets, employing over 30,000 associates to deliver more than 50,000 products emphasizing minimally invasive treatments, infection control, and personalized medicine. In recent developments, Terumo completed its $1.5 billion acquisition of OrganOx Limited in October 2025, making the UK-based organ preservation specialist a wholly owned subsidiary to enter the organ transplantation sector with normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) devices like the metra system for liver and future kidney applications, following an initial investment via Terumo Ventures in March 2025; additionally, the company finalized the acquisition of a WuXi drug product plant in October 2025 to bolster pharmaceutical solutions capabilities.
