Business
Linamar Corporation and its various divisions specialize in the design, development, and advanced manufacturing of engineered solutions across Canada, North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific region. The company's operations are distinctly categorized into two primary segments: Mobility and Industrial. The Mobility division is dedicated to creating precision metallic components, advanced modules, and integrated systems for both electric and traditional vehicle markets worldwide. This encompasses sophisticated propulsion systems, robust structural and chassis elements such as subframes and battery enclosures, comprehensive energy storage solutions including hydrogen tanks, and efficient power generation units. Products include critical engine components like cylinder blocks, cylinder heads, connecting rods, and camshafts; transmission components such as gears, shafts, clutch assemblies, and valve bodies; and driveline systems including power transfer units and engineered gears. The segment also offers extensive design, development, and testing capabilities. Its clientele consists primarily of automotive original equipment manufacturers and commercial vehicle enterprises. The Industrial segment focuses on producing mobile work platforms and agricultural machinery. Under the Skyjack brand, it manufactures compact and rough terrain scissor lifts, vertical mast lifts, telescopic booms, and telehandlers, primarily serving the construction equipment rental sector. Its agricultural portfolio, featuring brands like MacDon, Salford, and Bourgault, provides harvesting equipment such as combine draper headers and self-propelled windrowers, tillage tools, crop nutrition applicators, and advanced air seeding systems. Beyond these core areas, Linamar also operates a medical solutions group, Linamar MedTech, which manufactures medical devices and precision medical components. The company demonstrated strong financial performance with record sales exceeding $10 billion CAD in 2024. Recent strategic moves include a significant $1.1 billion investment in Ontario operations, announced in January 2025, to accelerate the development and production of electric vehicle components, eAxle systems, and advanced battery and hydrogen storage technologies. Furthermore, Linamar has expanded through acquisitions, including Bourgault Industries in late 2023, Dura-Shiloh's battery enclosures business, and the completion of Aludyne North America assets in November 2025 to bolster structural casting. Linamar Corporation, established in 1964, maintains its headquarters in Guelph, Canada. The company’s competitive advantage lies in its diversified approach, technological leadership, and expertise in precision manufacturing for evolving global markets, particularly through its "propulsion agnostic" strategy in the automotive sector.
