Business
Western Forest Products Inc. Western Forest Products Inc. operates as an integrated forest products company focused on sustainable forest management, timber harvesting, sawmilling, and manufacturing high-quality specialty wood products from species including Western Red Cedar, Yellow Cedar, Douglas Fir, and Hemlock. The company produces and sells lumber, logs, value-added remanufactured products such as glue-laminated timber (glulam), engineered wood products for structural and industrial applications; outdoor living solutions encompassing decking, timbers, and fencing; exterior appearance products like siding, trim, fascia, paneling, and soffits; and interior living items including paneling, moldings, architectural millwork, and stair components, with distribution to industrial, commercial, residential, and wholesale customers worldwide, primarily in Canada, the United States, Japan, China, and Europe. Founded in 1955 and headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, it manages approximately two million hectares of certified coastal forestland in British Columbia and Washington State, emphasizing reforestation, zero-waste manufacturing, and planting more than three trees for every one harvested. Recent developments include the formation of a limited partnership in early 2024 with Tlowitsis, We Wai Kai, Wei Wai Kum, and K’ómoks First Nations, transferring a 34% interest in Mid Island Forest Operations covering 157,000 hectares for $35.9 million to advance reconciliation and joint stewardship; entry into a new US$30 million bilateral letter of credit facility in September 2025 with Royal Bank of Canada, backed by Export Development Canada; a share consolidation effective in 2025; lumber production curtailments amid market challenges; and increased shareholding by Kernwood Limited to 16.42% as of October 2025.
