- Viet Nam Fishery Mechanical Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company (UPCOM: FSO), commonly known as FISHIPCO, is a Vietnam-based marine engineering and industrial manufacturing enterprise primarily engaged in the construction, conversion, and repair of specialized vessels and floating structures. Operating as a subsidiary of Vietnam National Seaproducts Corporation (SEAPRODEX), the company provides marine mechanical solutions, specialized manufacturing, and industrial services to commercial fishing operators, maritime transport companies, and industrial enterprises across Vietnam and export markets.
The company organizes its business into five principal operating segments: Shipbuilding and Marine Repair; Mechanical Engineering and Metal Fabrication; Paper Manufacturing; Fuel and Lubricants Distribution; and Industrial Property and Maritime Services. In Shipbuilding and Marine Repair, FISHIPCO manufactures, outfits, and overhauls vessels with capacities up to 6,500 DWT utilizing heavy-duty airbag launching systems, including steel-hulled commercial fishing vessels; offshore fishery logistics and support ships; transport barges and cargo vessels; tugboats; specialized patrol craft; floating docks; and industrial pontoons. In Mechanical Engineering and Metal Fabrication, the company provides structural steel fabrication; metal surface preparation, treatment, and anti-corrosion coating; marine equipment manufacturing; and industrial machinery assembly. The Paper Manufacturing division produces pulp, paperboard, and processed joss paper products primarily destined for international export markets. Through its Fuel and Lubricants segment, the company conducts wholesale and commercial retail distribution of marine diesel fuels, industrial oils, and specialized lubricants. In its Industrial Property and Maritime Services division, the company provides waterway transport support, vessel berthing and mooring services, and commercial leasing of workshops, storage yards, warehouses, and office facilities.
Founded in 1985 and converted into a joint stock company in 2007, FISHIPCO is headquartered in Hai Phong, Vietnam, and operates two primary shipyard and production facilities located within the Hong Bang District of Hai Phong.
In recent operational and strategic developments, FISHIPCO has executed targeted corporate restructuring to streamline its operational footprint and optimize resource allocation across core competencies. In August 2026, the company's Board of Directors approved the formal dissolution and cessation of operations of the General Business Enterprise (Xi nghiep Kinh doanh tong hop) to eliminate redundant activities and concentrate operational resources on high-value marine repair, vessel fabrication, and industrial property management. In addition, FISHIPCO has deepened its operational alignment with parent group SEAPRODEX to capture expanded fleet maintenance mandates for regional fishing enterprises and maximize the yield of its waterfront real estate and storage assets. Capital management and corporate governance actions in 2025 and 2026 have included annual cash dividend distributions to shareholders, strategic operational reviews at Annual General Meetings, and periodic regulatory filings regarding foreign ownership limits on the UPCoM exchange.
