The company conducts retail operations via physical stores and digital channels including websites, mobile applications, social media, and third-party platforms; wholesale activities encompassing young women's casual apparel, intimates, activewear, and shoes under brands such as Free People, FP Movement, BDG, and iets frans; and subscription services through Nuuly, a monthly women's apparel rental platform that also includes a resale service for apparel and accessories. Its primary brands consist of Urban Outfitters, targeting young adults with on-trend fashion, vintage clothing, and housewares; Anthropologie, focused on women's apparel, home furnishings, and weddings; Free People and FP Movement, offering bohemian-inspired casual and activewear; Terrain, providing home and garden products; and Menus & Venues, operating restaurants. Founded in 1970 and headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Urban Outfitters, Inc. serves customers in the United States, Canada, Europe including the United Kingdom and Poland, and the Middle East encompassing the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Qatar. Recent developments include the rollout of a new Gen Z-oriented store format with three openings by the end of 2025 and seven more planned for 2026, alongside in-store activations such as the On Rotation program featuring collaborations with Nike in May 2025 and Levi’s in August 2025; the launch of UO Haul, a gamified dorm decoration campaign with an HGTV Dream Dorm Makeover Contest in July 2025; and recognition as a 2025 Fast Company Brand That Matters for its cultural resurgence.
