Business
West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. (TSX, NYSE: WFG) manufactures, sells, markets and distributes a diversified range of renewable wood products including lumber such as spruce-pine-fir, Douglas fir-larch, hem-fir and southern yellow pine; treated wood products; engineered wood products comprising oriented strand board, laminated veneer lumber, medium density fiberboard panels, plywood and particleboard; pulp products including northern bleached softwood kraft and bleached chemical thermo-mechanical pulp; newsprint; wood chips; and other residuals and renewable energy such as bioenergy and biomaterials. The company serves markets for home construction, repair and remodeling, industrial applications, papers, tissue, box materials and paperboard products, selling to major retail chains, contractor supply yards, wholesalers and industrial customers. West Fraser operates more than 50 facilities including lumber mills, OSB mills, engineered wood mills and pulp and paper mills across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe; founded in 1955 in Quesnel, British Columbia by the Fraser brothers, it is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Recent developments include the 2024 sale of its Hinton, Quesnel River and Slave Lake pulp mills along with the dissolution of the Cariboo Pulp & Paper joint venture to become its sole owner; a strengthened partnership with Lake Babine Nation through a July 2025 First Nations Woodland Licence in British Columbia's Smithers area following prior joint development and log supply agreements; and ongoing share repurchases and capital investments to support operational excellence and sustainability.
