Business
West Island Brands Inc. (WIBFF) operates as a Canadian cannabis company focused on cultivation, processing, and sale of medical and recreational cannabis products. The company offers premium OUEST brand cannabis flower and pre-rolls; moderately priced CITOYEN brand cannabis; alternative delivery systems including concentrates; proprietary topical creams utilizing mineral clay suspension technology for time-released delivery; IONIC MIST odor-neutralizing spray; and contract packaging services for other license holders. Through its subsidiary RoyalMax Biotechnology Canada Inc., d.b.a. West Island Culture, a Health Canada-licensed facility in Montreal's West Island, Quebec, the company sells products across multiple Canadian provinces including Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Yukon, and the Northwest Territories. West Island Brands additionally engages in bio-products and agriculture via its Hemmingford, Quebec-based subsidiary, producing vegetable oil, white corn flour, and related commodities for international markets. Founded in 2007 and headquartered at 44 Victoria Street, Toronto, Ontario, the company, formerly Matica Enterprises Inc., changed its name in October 2021; it anticipates receiving CAD 0.2 million in funding as announced in December 2023 and acquired in March 2024 a 12-month international supply contract for 25,000 tonnes monthly of white corn flour and 12,500 tonnes of low glycerine vegetable oil to the Democratic Republic of Congo, marking a strategic expansion beyond cannabis into global agricultural exports.
