Business
West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. is a global manufacturer and provider of integrated containment and delivery systems primarily for injectable drugs and healthcare products. The company's core offerings include stoppers and seals for injectable packaging systems; syringe and cartridge components; self-injection devices featuring patient-centric, connected health technologies; and advanced containment and delivery solutions such as the proprietary Daikyo Crystal Zenith polymer, a high-performance glass alternative suited for sensitive biologics. West also provides contract manufacturing services encompassing injection molding, contract assembly, and finished packaging through facilities in North America and Europe. Founded in 1923, the company is headquartered in Exton, Pennsylvania, and serves pharmaceutical, biologics, vaccine, and consumer healthcare markets worldwide. Recent major strategic developments at West include the launch of the West Synchrony™ Prefillable Syringe System, an innovative, fully verified system-level product designed specifically for biologics and vaccines scheduled for commercial availability in 2026. This system integrates syringe barrel, plunger, and needle components into a harmonized platform that accelerates regulatory submission and enhances supply chain reliability. In addition, West has strengthened its collaboration with Corning Incorporated, combining West’s NovaPure components and Daikyo Flurotec coating technology with Corning’s Valor® Glass and Velocity® Vials to develop advanced pharmaceutical packaging solutions that improve patient safety and drug stability. Furthermore, West has made a strategic investment in Latch Medical, a Dublin-based company specializing in next-generation vaccine and biologics delivery technology focused on intradermal delivery. West operates across more than 50 sites worldwide, including 25 manufacturing locations, supporting its expansive global supply chain. The company reported $2.89 billion in net sales for fiscal year 2024 and is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker WST. It is also included in the Standard & Poor’s 500 index, reflecting its prominence as a trusted partner to established and emerging drug developers for the safe containment and delivery of life-saving medicines on a global scale. This comprehensive integration of innovative product offerings and strategic partnerships underscores West Pharmaceutical Services’ position as a leader in injectable drug delivery systems, supported by a nearly century-long heritage of technological advancement and manufacturing excellence.
