- WisdomTree New Economy Real Estate ETF (WTRE) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to track the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the WisdomTree New Economy Real Estate Index. The fund provides targeted exposure to global real estate companies with material direct or indirect involvement in technology, science, and e-commerce related business activities; this includes operators and owners of data centers, cell towers, life sciences laboratories, last-mile distribution facilities, cold storage warehouses, telecommunication towers, healthcare facilities, modern logistics, and other specialized industrial infrastructure powering the digital and industrial economy. WTRE offers investors a diversified basket of such securities to complement traditional global real estate exposure or satisfy demand for thematic investments at the intersection of real estate and megatrends like technological evolution.
The ETF, with an expense ratio of 0.58%, trades on the NYSE Arca and maintains total assets of approximately $15 million as of July 2025, with a portfolio heavily weighted toward the United States (69%), Australia (10%), Singapore (5%), and select European markets including Spain, the United Kingdom, and Italy. It features a dividend yield of 2.73%, price-to-earnings ratio of 153.12, and top holdings such as Prologis Inc., Goodman Group, Digital Realty Trust Inc., Crown Castle Inc., and American Tower Corp., representing about 29% of assets.
In April 2025, WTRE underwent a significant strategic shift with the implementation of a new investment objective and policy, transitioning from tracking the CenterSquare New Economy Real Estate Index to the WisdomTree New Economy Real Estate Index effective April 10, 2025. This change reflects ongoing index reconstitution efforts by WisdomTree, Inc., the fund's sponsor, which founded the predecessor fund in 2007 and maintains headquarters in New York, New York. WisdomTree, a global financial innovator managing over $128 billion in assets, concurrently pursued broader expansions, including the announcement in July 2025 and completion in October 2025 of its $275 million cash acquisition (plus up to $225 million earn-out) of Ceres Partners, LLC, a U.S. farmland investment manager, marking its entry into private real asset markets. These moves align with WisdomTree's periodic ETF family reviews, such as the May 2025 liquidation of the unrelated WisdomTree Battery Value Chain and Innovation Fund (WBAT).
