Zijin Mining Group Company Limited Zijin Mining Group Company Limited (601899.SH; 2899.HK), founded in 1993 and headquartered in Longyan, Fujian Province, China, operates as a large-scale global mining group focused on the exploration, mining, processing, and sale of metals including gold, copper, zinc, lithium, silver, molybdenum, lead and platinum group metals; the company maintains extensive operations across China, Central Asia, Russia, Mongolia, Europe, Africa, Oceania and South America through wholly-owned subsidiaries, majority stakes and strategic investments in assets such as the Zijinshan Copper-Gold Mine, Julong Copper Mine, Duobaoshan Copper Mine, Raygorodok Gold Mine, Akyem Gold Mine, Porgera Gold Mine, Kamoa-Kakula Copper Mine, Čukaru Peki Copper-Gold Mine, Buriticá Gold Mine, Rosebel Gold Mine, Norton Gold Fields, Lakkor Tso Lithium Project, Manono Northeast Lithium Project and Tres Quebradas Salar. Zijin produces refined products including gold concentrates and doré, copper cathodes and concentrates, zinc and lead ingots, lithium carbonate and battery materials, silver bullion and molybdenum concentrates; it also engages in trading of metals and by-products, in-house research and engineering of proprietary mining technologies such as biological heap leaching, direct lithium extraction and AI-driven automation systems, and engineering services for mineral processing. The company targets industrial customers in electronics, jewelry, investment, construction, renewable energy, electric vehicles, energy storage and manufacturing sectors worldwide. Recent developments include acquiring a controlling 25% stake in A-share listed Zangge Mining in January 2025 for RMB 13.729 billion to gain absolute control of the world-class Julong Copper Mine and add lithium and potash resources in Xizang and Qinghai; completing the US$1.2 billion purchase of Kazakhstan's Raygorodok Gold Mine in 2025 as its largest gold acquisition in six years; acquiring Newmont's Akyem Gold Mine in Ghana and Norton Gold Fields in Australia in 2024-2025; spinning off and listing its international gold unit Zijin Gold International on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in September 2025, raising HK$25 billion in the world's largest gold mining IPO to fund mine upgrades, exploration and the Raygorodok deal; and advancing Phase II expansion at Julong Copper Mine toward 300,000-350,000 tonnes annual capacity by late 2025 while targeting group-wide output of 1.5-1.6 million tonnes copper, 100-110 tonnes gold and 250,000-300,000 tonnes lithium carbonate equivalent by 2028.
