Jadranski naftovod d.d. (JANAF) is a Croatia-based energy infrastructure company that manages and operates an international crude oil pipeline transmission system as well as extensive storage facilities for crude oil and petroleum products. Founded in 1974 and headquartered in Zagreb, Croatia, the majority state-owned company serves as a vital strategic energy corridor supplying refineries and commercial clients across Central and Southeastern Europe, including Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia. The company operates through two core business segments: Oil Transportation and Storage Services. JANAF provides crude oil transportation through a pipeline network spanning over 630 kilometers from the Adriatic coast to inland refineries with an installed capacity of 24 million metric tons per annum and a designed capacity of 34 million metric tons per annum; storage of crude oil across terminal tank farms with an aggregate capacity of 2.1 million cubic meters; storage of refined petroleum products with a total capacity of approximately 242,000 cubic meters; marine port and terminal operations at the deepwater Omišalj Terminal on the island of Krk, equipped with berths accommodating crude oil tankers up to 350,000 deadweight tons; tanker loading and unloading services; transshipment and blending of crude oil and petroleum products for pipeline, rail, and tank truck dispatch; quality testing and laboratory inspection of liquid hydrocarbons; and renewable energy generation through solar photovoltaic assets. The company operates key storage and handling terminals situated in Omišalj, Sisak, Virje, Slavonski Brod, and Zagreb-Žitnjak. In recent developments, JANAF has advanced its 2022–2030 Transition and Development Strategy aimed at diversifying into renewable energy, establishing its specialized subsidiary JANAF OIE d.o.o. and completing strategic acquisitions of commercial-scale photovoltaic assets, including the 14.28 MW Vođinci solar power plant project and the 5.2 MW Bulinac solar power plant, alongside integrated solar installations across its operating terminals. The company has also initiated infrastructure modernization and expansion programs, including constructing new storage tanks at the Omišalj Terminal to expand regional crude storage reserves. Operationally, JANAF continues to anchor regional energy security through multi-year commercial agreements, including a contract with Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) for the transport of 10 million tons of crude oil through 2026 and extended transport and storage contracts with MOL Group through 2027, complemented by joint technical capacity testing to optimize transit flows across Central Europe.
