Business
Advance Auto Parts, Inc. is a leading automotive aftermarket parts provider that serves both professional installers and do-it-yourself customers through a network of company-operated stores and independently owned branded locations. Headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, and founded in 1929, the company operates approximately 4,300 stores primarily in the United States, with additional locations in Canada, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and independently owned Carquest stores in Mexico and various Caribbean islands. It offers a comprehensive range of brand name, original equipment manufacturer, and private label products, including batteries such as DieHard; brakes and brake components; engine and fuel systems; exhaust systems; cooling, heating, and air conditioning parts; wiper blades from brands like FRAM; filters such as Carquest Premium and EP Filters; oil, fluids, lubricants, and additives; spark plugs; tools and equipment; accessories; chassis components; and maintenance items for domestic and imported cars, vans, sport utility vehicles, light trucks, and heavy-duty trucks; as well as online shopping and diagnostic services. In a major strategic shift, Advance Auto Parts completed the sale of its Worldpac wholesale distribution unit to funds managed by Carlyle Group for $1.5 billion in cash in November 2024, generating net proceeds of approximately $1.2 billion to strengthen its balance sheet, enhance financial flexibility, and sharpen focus on its core blended box retail business amid ongoing turnaround efforts. The company also announced proactive debt financing transactions in July 2025, including a new asset-backed revolving loan facility to support supply chain financing and position for re-attainment of an investment-grade credit rating. Additional recent developments include the appointment of Shweta Bhatia in supply chain leadership in January 2025 and recognition of Valvoline as its 2024 Global Vendor Partner of the Year, alongside reporting third quarter 2025 results with 3.0% comparable store sales growth and reaffirmed full-year guidance. Shane O'Kelly serves as president and chief executive officer, leading operational improvements such as enhanced parts availability targeting high-90s fill rates.
