Business
American Coastal Insurance Corporation (Nasdaq: ACIC) is a publicly traded holding company founded in 2007 and headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida that, through its wholly owned insurance subsidiary American Coastal Insurance Company (AmCoastal), underwrites commercial residential property and casualty insurance policies targeting catastrophe-exposed markets across the United States where large national carriers have reduced policy concentrations; core offerings include commercial multi-peril coverage for condominium associations, homeowner associations, and apartment buildings against perils such as fire, wind, hail, water, theft, and vandalism, distributed exclusively through managing general agent partnerships with AmRisc Group for hurricane-exposed properties and Skyway Underwriters for catastrophe solutions, supported by sophisticated pricing algorithms, policy concentration avoidance, and a comprehensive reinsurance program exceeding Florida minimums with all A- or better rated or collateralized reinsurers plus the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund. The company previously offered personal lines including homeowners, renters, condominium unit owners, flood, and landlord policies through its former subsidiary Interboro Insurance Company but completed the strategic sale of Interboro to Forza Insurance Holdings LLC in April 2025 following announcement in May 2024, fully exiting personal lines to concentrate on its fast-growing commercial specialty portfolio; recent developments also encompass a five-year extension of the exclusive MGA agreement with AmRisc through January 2029 announced in June 2024, renewal of the core catastrophe reinsurance program for 2025/26 with $1.676 billion in occurrence-based limit (up 3.9% from prior year) in June 2025, renewal and expansion of the catastrophe excess of loss agreement adding $40 million aggregate limit in January 2025, achievement of investment grade issuer and debt ratings of BBB- from Kroll Bond Rating Agency in July 2025 (up from BB+), affirmation of the A- Insurance Financial Strength Rating for AmCoastal with Stable outlook, and a Financial Stability Rating of A, Exceptional from Demotech recognized by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and HUD.
