Allison Transmission Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: ALSN) designs, manufactures and sells fully automatic transmissions and electrified propulsion solutions for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, off-highway equipment and defense applications worldwide; its core products include the 1000/2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, 8000 and 9000 Series transmissions tailored for on-highway trucks, buses, motorhomes, emergency vehicles, pupil transport and specialty uses; Torqmatic and Terratrans off-highway transmissions; eGen Power electric axles with dual or single motors and multi-speed gearboxes for trucks and buses; eGen Flex electric hybrid systems for transit buses with engine-off capability and geofencing; Tractor Series TC10 transmissions; and aftermarket support via Allison Genuine Parts and ReTran remanufactured units. Founded in 1915 and headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, the company operates manufacturing facilities in Indianapolis, Chennai, India, and Szentgotthard, Hungary, with regional headquarters in Shanghai, China, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, serving customers in over 150 countries through a network of 1,600 dealer locations and 6,200 certified technicians. Allison Transmission targets segments such as distribution, refuse, construction, fire, emergency, school and transit buses; energy, mining and motor homes; and military vehicles including Abrams tanks. In June 2025, Allison Transmission announced a definitive agreement to acquire Dana Incorporated's off-highway business for approximately $2.7 billion, expected to close by late Q4 2025 following regulatory approvals, enhancing its propulsion and drivetrain offerings with projected $120 million in annual synergies; the company priced $500 million in 5.875% senior notes due 2033 and a $1.2 billion term loan to finance the deal. Recent activities also include a $97 million U.S. Army contract in October 2025 for Abrams tank transmissions and kits, and expansion of its global authorized partner network for cross-drive transmission support.
