In August 2025, Amphastar entered an exclusive licensing agreement with Nanjing Anji Biotechnology Co., Ltd. for three proprietary peptides in the US and Canada—an endogenous peptide for poorly treated cancers, a peptide-docetaxel conjugate to enhance taxane therapies, and an anti-VEGFR peptide eye drop for wet age-related macular degeneration—with upfront payments of $6 million and potential milestones up to $453 million. The company announced in July 2025 a multi-year expansion to quadruple domestic production capacity at its Rancho Cucamonga headquarters over three to five years, including a new state-of-the-art facility, advanced automation, and job creation in R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and quality; its subsidiary International Medication Systems, Ltd. received the FDA's Drug Shortage Assistance Award for efforts in addressing critical shortages.
