América Móvil América Móvil, S.A.B. de C.V., S.A.B. de C.V. provides integrated telecommunications services as the largest mobile operator in Latin America by subscribers excluding China and India. The company offers wireless and fixed voice services including airtime, local, domestic and international long-distance calls; wireless data and broadband; fixed data services; pay television; information technology solutions; value-added services; and equipment and accessories sales through brands such as Telcel in Mexico, Claro across much of Latin America and the Caribbean including Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Central America, Puerto Rico and Ecuador, and others in select markets. Founded in 2000 as a spin-off from Telmex's wireless operations and headquartered in Mexico City, it operates in 22 countries spanning Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, serving over 310 million wireless subscribers and 73 million fixed revenue generating units with extensive fiber-optic infrastructure exceeding 290,000 kilometers. Recent developments include aggressive 5G rollouts and fiber expansions in key markets like Mexico, Brazil and Colombia from 2022-2024; sale of Tracfone Wireless U.S. operations to Verizon for approximately $6.9 billion in 2021; acquisition of controlling interest of about 91% in Chilean joint venture ClaroVTR from Liberty Latin America in 2025 pending regulatory approval; a 10-year advertising partnership with ICARO Media Group via Claro Brasil announced in 2025; a major share buyback program of MXP15 billion from April 2024 to April 2025 with treasury share cancellations; and a non-binding agreement with Entel in October 2025 alongside ongoing network modernization investments projected at 22 billion Mexican pesos over three years.
