Business
ArcBest Corporation delivers comprehensive freight transportation and integrated logistics solutions globally. The enterprise primarily functions through its two main operating divisions: Asset-Based and Asset-Light. The Asset-Based segment is dedicated to less-than-truckload (LTL) services, facilitating the movement of diverse general commodities such as foodstuffs, textiles, clothing, home furnishings, appliances, chemicals, specialized petroleum products, rubber, plastics, various metal goods, timber, glass, vehicle components, industrial machinery, and a wide array of manufactured items. This segment also extends its motor carrier freight services to clients in Mexico through established agreements with local trucking partners. The Asset-Light segment provides an extensive suite of flexible supply chain offerings. These include expedited freight delivery for commercial and governmental clients, specialized premium logistics requiring custom equipment deployment, and global freight transportation through air, ocean, and ground modalities. Furthermore, this segment offers third-party transportation brokerage by arranging various capacity solutions, encompassing standard dry van over-the-road transport, temperature-controlled and refrigerated options, flatbed hauling, intermodal or container shipping, and highly specialized equipment. Services also comprise full and less-than-container load ocean shipping, warehousing, distribution, managed transportation programs, and "do-it-yourself" moving solutions for consumers. This division is further enhanced by final mile delivery, time-critical shipping, product launch logistics, retail supply chain management, optimization of supply chains, and specialized trade show shipping services. Additionally, it provides roadside repair services and comprehensive vehicle maintenance management for both commercial and private fleets, leveraging a network of third-party providers. The company actively invests in advanced technologies, including AI-powered tools and platforms like Vaux, to boost efficiency and customer experience. Established in 1923, the company initially operated as Arkansas Best Corporation before officially adopting the name ArcBest Corporation in May 2014. ArcBest Corporation maintains its headquarters in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
