Business
AXIA Energia S.A., through its subsidiaries and investees, operates as a Brazilian electric power holding company focused on electricity generation, transmission and energy trading; the company carries out studies, project development, construction and operation of power plants and transmission lines, as well as retail power trading, research and development in the energy sector, alternative generation sourcing, reservoir use, energy efficiency and smart grid solutions. Founded in 1962 and headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, AXIA Energia operates nationwide and through AXIA Energia Nordeste, AXIA Energia Norte and AXIA Energia Sul; it owns and operates hydroelectric, wind and solar assets, and participates in transmission infrastructure and commercial energy solutions for regulated and free-market customers. Its portfolio includes generation from 100% renewable sources, transmission services remunerated by regulatory annual revenue, and energy trading services that serve industrial and other power consumers in Brazil’s free contracting environment. In 2025, the company advanced a broad portfolio rationalization and expansion strategy, including the completion of the corporate rebrand from Eletrobras to AXIA Energia, the sale of its thermal generation assets to J&F, and the completion of the divestment of its stake in EMAE in February 2026. It also completed the acquisition of full ownership of Colíder Hydroelectric Plant, acquired control of Eletronet, and completed the acquisition of Juno Participações e Investimentos, which resulted in full consolidation of Tijoá Energia and the Três Irmãos Hydroelectric Power Plant. Additional recent changes include the execution of an agreement to divest its stake in Eletronuclear to J&F, the launch of a digital platform to help customers sell energy to the national grid during peak demand periods, and the award of new transmission lots in ANEEL’s 2025 auction, supporting further expansion of its transmission pipeline.
