Business
Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBA) produces low-carbon primary and semi-fabricated aluminum products across the full value chain, from bauxite mining and alumina refining to smelting and downstream processing; its core offerings include ingots, slabs, billets, rods, foils, sheets, coils, plates, extruded profiles, caster rolls, and components, serving industries such as packaging, automotive, transportation, construction, consumer goods, and electrical sectors. Founded in 1941 and headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil, the company operates bauxite mines in Poços de Caldas, Miraí, and Itamarati de Minas in Minas Gerais state, along with alumina refineries, smelters, and rolling mills primarily in Brazil, while exporting to markets including the United States, Europe, Mexico, the Netherlands, Iceland, Uruguay, and Argentina; it also generates hydroelectric power through 18 plants, supplying excess energy to around 13,000 clients. As a subsidiary of Votorantim S.A., CBA maintains subsidiaries such as Cba Machadinho Geracao de Energia Ltda., Alux do Brasil Industria e Comercio Ltda., Santa Cruz Geracao de Energia SA, and CBA Itapissuma Ltda., with recent developments including heightened export focus amid Europe's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and global trade shifts like U.S. tariffs, alongside reported interest from Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) in a potential acquisition advised by Morgan Stanley as of late 2025.
